Professional Tech Editing.

As a designer, it’s near impossible to edit your own work successfully. As a tech editor, I’m here to be your fresh set of eyes, focused on helping you provide your customers with clear, concise and accurate knitting patterns. Want to work with me to make your pattern perfect? Contact me, or read more about what I provide as a tech editor below.

What I provide as your Tech Editor

Price

  • I charge $40 CAD per hour (approximately $30-$35 USD, depending on the day), with a 45-minute minimum and 15-minute increments after that.

  • Your invoice can be paid via credit card, PayPal, or etransfer.

  • Each pattern is unique and the time it takes to edit will depend on item type, complexity, preparedness and any add-ons required. Generally, simple accessories will take no more than 1 hour, complex accessories, or those with many sizes, can take 2-3 hours, and garments can take anywhere from 1-8 hours. A quote will be sent before work begins.

  • If you have multiple patterns to send in at the same time, the minimum charge will only be applied once, and time will be accumulative for all patterns.

  • Rush jobs (within 72 hours) are available at a priority rate upon request.

Process

Once I receive your knitting pattern, I will take a quick look over it and determine approximately how long it will take me to edit. If you have a style sheet, a previous pattern you’d like me to reference for consistency, or any spreadsheets, charts, or photos, you should send those along as well. If you require any additional services, such as charts or grading, be sure to mention that so I can add it to your quote. Once I get the okay from you, I’ll get to work!

Turnaround time for the initial edit is approximately one to two weeks. If a rush job is required, please let me know and we can discuss priority rates.

Once I complete my first round of edits, I’ll send it back to your so you can make any necessary changes or adjustments. You can then send it back, and I’ll review the changes to make sure nothing was missed. We can go back and forth as many times as you like until your pattern is perfect.
